Distance: Three miles.
Terrain:  An undulating walk on lanes and fieldpaths. One stile.

roughton.jpg1. Start opposite Brook Lane in the village, south of the A464. Then walk along Brook Lane, bear right at the first junction and continue around a right-hand bend and uphill to Hoccum Farm at the top.

2. Carry on along the lane as it turns to the left, and leave it at the next turn, continuing ahead on a green lane which eventually runs alongside an industrial estate.

3. On reaching a bridleway sign, turn left down the hill to pass alongside Hoccum Pool, pass through two bridle gates and continue uphill alongside a wood on the right to another bridle gate at the top.

4. Then pass through the gate, cross over the track and head across the open field to the right of a gate in the far boundary.

5.

On reaching the intruding field corner, walk down the left-hand boundary to join a track at the bottom. Turn left on to this and follow it around to the right as it passes Barnsley Pool.

6. Continue ahead up between the trees until emerging into a garden at the top, bear left along the drive and follow this through the hamlet of Barnsley and out to a lane junction.

7. Turn left down the hill and at the first junction turn left into Roughton. Bear left at the next junction and continue ahead through the village to return to the start.
