Shrewsbury Town director Colin Poole has been fined £2,000 by the Environment Agency for illegally discharging sewage effluent into the ground.
Poole, 42, of Netley Hall, Dorrington, admitted two charges under the Water Resources Act (1991) of failing to meet the conditions set in his Consent to Discharge.
The boss of Netley Hall Holidays, in Dorrington, ignored Environment Agency warnings and continued to discharge unhealthy water into the ground, Shrewsbury Magistrates heard yesterday.
Officers took routine samples from a discharge point at the site in April, May and July 2005, as well as January and February 2006. The court heard they all failed to meet the standards set in his Consent to Discharge.
Poole, the ex-boss of failed compensation firm Claims Direct, was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £2,696.44 costs. Amy Currie, an Environment Agency officer, said: “This case should serve as warning to others.”
