1. Start at the Old Three Pigeons on the A5 in Nesscliffe. Continue up the lane which bears left through the village of Hopton and turn right at the third junction which is signposted Valeswood and Little Ness.
2. Continue up the lane which bears left through the village of Hopton and turn right at the third junction which is a signposted track on the left which leads to the Cliffe.
3. Turn left as indicated at the next junction and climb gradually to the rolling area surrounding the reservoir at the top.
To the left of this is a seat and an information board and, after taking in the all round views from this vantage point, pick up a narrow path to the left of the board which passes along the edge of a wood before joining a surfaced lane to a road junction.
4. Cross over and enter the field opposite, keeping to the left-hand field boundary as far as the entrance to a wood.

6. After passing a large quarry, carry on along the track until it curves left down towards the village of Nesscliffe.
7. Go straight ahead up the steps and follow the track through the woods back to the start.
