Distance: Three-and-a-half miles.
1. Start at the signposted car park at the old racecourse to the south of the road from Oswestry to Llansilin (B4580).
Cross the grassy track which runs parallel to the road, and follow a path half-left through the scrub towards a house at the top of the rise adjacent to another section of the old course.
The remains of the old grandstand lie to your left at a height of over 1,050ft, the racecourse closed in 1848 after 70 years use.
2. Turn right and follow the wide track back to the B4580, cross over and continue on another grassy section to the left of a the drive leading to the cottages.
3. Just before the apex of the bend, turn right onto apath between bushes and follow this to a track past a cottage on the right leading to a lane.

Cross this and follow the path which leads out to a lane.
5. Turn right here and walk up to a staggered crossroads, from where you can continue ahead back to the start, or cross the stile on the left and walk up the left hand-side of the field to a stile next to a cottage.
6. Cross this and the drive, then turn right to the car park.
