A Telford motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with two other vehicles on a busy road near Market Drayton. The man, who is in his 30s, has not been named.
He suffered fatal injuries in the smash on the A53 at about 2.45pm yesterday.
Police today said he was riding his motorbike towards Loggerheads when he was involved in an accident with a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Renault Clio.
Paramedics and the air ambulance were called and the man was airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A woman was also injured in the accident and a 29-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested in connection with the incident.
Sergeant Geoffrey Knight, of Staffordshire police, said: “At approximately 2.45pm emergency services attended a report of a serious road traffic collision at Baldwin’s Gate close to the junction of Holly Bush Lane.
“The circumstances, we believe, are that the motorcycle and Mitsubishi were travelling along the A53 in the general direction towards Loggerheads when a collision occurred with the Renault travelling in the opposite direction.”
Sergeant Knight said the 57-year-old woman driving the Renault was from the Stoke area and she was taken to hospital, but her injuries were not life threatening.
He added: “A 29-year-old male from the Stoke area was arrested a short time after the collision.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire police on 08453 302010 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
