Shropshire binmen are getting an eyeful in the early hours as residents are having to dash out in their dressing gowns to catch new early bin collections.
Residents are being urged to put their food waste out early to avoid having to run around in their bed clothes when the collection crews arrive.
South Shropshire District Council today issued the plea to residents as workers say they are witnessing an increasing number of people in night clothes appearing from their homes to put out their blue food waste bins in time.New rounds have been created for the blue bin service in the district, so many residents may receive a collection as early as 7am compared to the normal collections.
Ian Hancock, of Biffa Waste Services, said: “Some people seem surprised that we are there so early.”
Residents should put the blue bins out by 7am for collection that day.

Sorry Rabbie!
wots wrong wid puttin dem out de night before
Whats wrong with them coming round at a reasonable hour, instead of so early in the morning? There was a time when these ’services’ were organised for the convenience of the public.
Pete - asks why teh bins cannot be put out the night before - well some councils fine homeowners for putting the bins out on the wrong day, so in theory you would have to get up early in the morning to put them out.
if they think night-ware is exciting, best keep bin men away from open air swimming pools
7am isn’t early for getting bins out. Better still do it before you go to bed. The council won’t be around at that time to check !! In Australia they collect between 3-5am in some areas, as I found out on Christmas morning a few years ago.
