Hundreds of people lined the streets of towns across Shropshire and Mid Wales as the annual Bank Holiday carnivals filled the region with colour.
Parades in Ludlow, Market Drayton and Welshpool brightened up a wet and windy day yesterday.
One of the highlights in Ludlow was the appearance of television personality Hollie Robertson, winner of the BBC’s Strictly Dance Fever.
Alongside Hollie there was a feast of entertainment featuring local bands, Insteps Dance Studio and many more. There was also an under-cover craft market packed with items and featuring jewellery and arts and crafts.
In Market Drayton, there was a host of colourful attractions and entertainment.
Stilt walkers, jugglers, a human statue, a bungee run and enjoy a hog roast were just some of the highlights of the day.
Carnival chairman Baz Chapman said: “It doesn’t seem like five minutes since the 2006 carnival.
“Apart from a two week break for holidays the committee has been working very hard.
“Without their dedication this year’s event could not have taken place.”
In Welshpool, crowds lined the streets as the colourful procession made its way along Broad Street and Severn Street towards the Maesydre Recreation Ground for a fun fair and live entertainment.
This year’s Carnival Queen, 12-year-old Alexandra Turnbull, was joined by dancers and musicians from a host of different local groups.
Led by the police and fire service, the masses enjoyed music by the Newtown Youth Marching Corps and some very lively beats from the Batala Bermo samba group, from Barmouth.
Although the dark skies threatened to open up and unleash a downpour, the rain held off as punters gathered to enjoy the different activities and performances at the carnival showground.
