The lads may have missed out today but I think we should be proud of their achievement in making the play-offs. The win over MK Dons showed the potential for next season. Don’t lost heart. New home, new future!

muahahaha the better team won with 2 gr8 finishes

Simply not good enough, the better team certainly won, I can see Shrewsbury struggling next year in the lego stadium! Once again we prove that there’s only one true team in Shropshire that’s got a chance of going anywhere!

    YOU WHITES!

We was poor today, Bristol walked all over us. We should be happy with league two football and welcoming Accrington Stanley and Dagenham + Redbridge to the Gay New Meadow. Hopefully we can scrape the playoffs next season.

well done Bristol, deserved the win, we we didnt look like we wanted it. We have no spirit and are over achieving. I welcome accrington stanley and dagenham + redbridge to the gay new meadow and think we should be happy if we scrape the playoffs again.

Despite loosing it was a credit to League 2 football. I am sure that any neautrals that watched the game after seeing last weeks FA Cup Final would be surprised by the quality of football at this so called lowest level of the Football League. Well played the Town. What Gary Peters has done for Town has been a revalation. I am sure he will build on this next season to achieve promotion in the new stadium

Sour grapes from Telford fans cannot take away the great achievement in reaching the play off finals at Wembley. Shrews were the better team for a lot of the match! Well done Shrewsbury you did NOT let us down!!

at least we’re the leugue so you bucks can keep quiet until, no if you make it there.

gp and the team have provided the club with an excellent extended season, there is surely no shame in losing to the gasheads who have already beaten us twice this season. we probably lost the match because of a weakened mid field
we now regroup and with the help of extra income from tv rights etc, gp should be provided with sufficient funding from the board to build the squad to look for automatic promotion next season at the new meadow.
all i ask is the club drop the new badge as soon as possible and bring in a new one as similar to the old as possible. if it does not contain the words floreat salopia, all is lost!

The Drummond goal was an wonderful moment. The noise, the joy.

But missing 2 chances in the next 10 minutes to go 2-0 up left an uneasy feeling.

I’ve seen a number of comments saying the better side won, but we had the potential to win and that’s the disappointment.

We also had a lot of the ball and there was some good football from Salop.

But the crossing was not good enough and in the last 10 minutes, the build-up from defence was too rushed.

For all that, a great day out, a great goal, a great dribble from Asamoah (which I hope gets the TV coverage it deserves) and a great victory at M K Dons.

great season with crap pitch, never though i would see wembley this year, new meadow here i come.

  16. John Larsen said:

It was very disappointing. Even when Drummond scored I had the feeling that Rovers would come from behind at snatch it. Unfortunately I was right. Shrewsbury have great chances, more goal attempts, more crosses, and Rovers did only have two or three chance on which they scored.
That is football in the cruelest way.
Now it’s time to look forward, Town should be one of the promotion contenters next season, and i’m sure that Peters have the ability to do it.
And as for the people who’s laughing that Town did’nt make it - comeon they just envy, and just haven’t the guts to say that Town really did it well this season.
To Peters and the lads - thanks for a great season….

    Cheers from Denmark

  17. jh said:

sour grapes - jealous of what exactly ? well done shrewsbury though, you didnt let any telford fans down either, keep up the good work lol.
Telford United a team with a history for winning at wembley.

  18. stephen b. said:

Disappointing but we should be looking at a top seven finish next season. Come on you blues!

  19. David Brown said:

We can walk away from Wembley with our heads held high but wondering what could have been.
As GP said, the main difference was they had a striker who was at the top of his game.
We had more possession and shots and Asamoah and Drummond were excellent.
With Davies in the team we could probably have won it but leaving Edwards out of the squad was a big mistake.
All in all, an unforgettable day and I hope that some of those who went on Saturday will get down the New Meadow next season and roar the boys on to automatic promotion.

What a game town did them selves pround they were all over bristol should of won .if they play like that next season they should go up as champions. come on the shrews

A famous manager once said to me “Success is relative”, Sad Telford fans supporting a relatively unsuccessful pub team wouldn’t know what real football is like. We enjoyed a brief spell playing the game at their previous level and I don’t remember them ever bettering us and I don’t suppose they will ever get there again. Come on you blues

  22. michael said:

unluckey telford fans you will never see the leauge as you will never be good anothe what have you ever won a mickey mouse cup for a group of sunday league teams. they will build another new wembley by the time you get good anothe to play there. up the shrews

  23. Peter Elmore said:

Town’s achievement in getting to the Play-offs shouldn’t be underestimated. We have a young team still finding its way. Too much cannot be said by way of congratulations to Gary Peters for his achievement this season. Shame it didn’t all end as we wanted with promotion. The turn-out of supporters was first class and whatever the result the Town’s team were not disgraced.

    Roll on next season.

  24. Tim Jordan said:

Thanks to all the telford fans for showing us what pride they have in winning the FA pub cup a couple of times 20 years ago….
Town had more possession, more shots on target, more shots off target and conseded less fouls… Rovers got a little bit lucky but had a great keeper and the difference came down to Walker sticking two chances away.

Well played to Rovers and good luck next year… Hopefully Town will join you for season 2008/09!!!

  25. GFW said:

I agree with David Brown. Salop played some great football, but there is no point in Asamoah weaving his magic and no one to pass the ball to! Salop play too deep at times, therefore when oportunity to score comes - no players in position.GP should have considered Edwards - he is after all a class player and politics should not interfere with the wellfare of the club! Never mind lads - get used to the ‘new pitch’ and steam on next season - up the Shrews!!!!

  26. Mark Charlton said:

Let’s be positive, we have had a great final season at Gay Meadow and reaching the play off final was fantastic. For a small town club with a small budget, we have done brilliantly thanks to Gary Peters and the lads. We have the nucleus of a good young squad, with the addition of a few quality signings and moving to a fantastic new stadium, we have a lot to look forward to. If we are honest with ourselves we are not good enough to go up yet. Better to have a successfull first season at the new stadium than fighting a relegation battle. Come on you Shrews!

I was gutted about the score on saturday! But at least we still get to play wrexham, chester and hereford, which are all exciting games with them being derbys! All i wanna say is unlucky town, u did us all proud, u played some great football!! i reckon automatic promotion is on the cards for next season if we carry on playing like we did in the play-offs! Can’t wait 2 get 2 the new ground, and because we stayin down we’ll probs win more than lose unlike if we went up it’ll be the other way round! Well done lads keep it up! Im shrewsbury till i die!!!

I think it is sad when all the idiots from down the M54 can do is make jealous comments. The only way they will ever get to Wembley is if they get jobs as stewards there.

Supporter for 60 years,,now living in West Oxfordshire, and a Proud Salopian. Congrats to management and team for giving over 100% for the whole season. Lets set our sights high and fill the new Stadium with fans and as much noise as we made at Wembley.

  35. Matt in Derby said:

Having just watched the Rams One Nil it into the Premiership, seeing their happy fans and players tinges me with even more regret that we couldn’t finish the job on Saturday. Instead of opening the New Meadow to Forest and Leeds it will be Dagenham and Morecambe, which is a huge disapointment.
GP now has his biggest job so far in getting these players mentally prepared for next season. League Two was a very strong division this year, with the 4 teams that came down finishing in the top 4 positions, but make no mistake it will be tougher next year. The franchise FC we disposed of in the play-offs semis will have their new 22,000 seater stadium, and Bradford City have their own 25,000 capacity stadium which only six years ago was hosting Premier League Games. Chesterfield, Brentford and Rotherham will all look to a quick return to League One. Wycombe, Stockport, Lincoln, Darlington and Peterborough all have the potential to be there or there abouts, and can we write off our bitter rivals to recover from their Great Escape?
Of the 60 beaten play-off finalists, 6 have suffered relegation the following season, 16 have secured promotion. Lets make it 17 and give the New Meadow a first season to remember.

  36. Anne said:

What the heck have the Telfordites got to do with it anyway? Butt out - worry about your own team!! They need all the support they can get!

  37. Josh said:

Isn’t it incredible how the ignorants come out and post comments.
Salop were wonderful, played with their hearts on their sleeves. And if the defence was a little bit more experienced and confident. Then those two goals in the first half would never have occured. They were stemmed from silly defensive errors but yes, well finished.

Town will be a credit next season, GP has money to spend. And he’s a man who knows what to spend it on. Town have got their new stadium to look forward to, lots of new players to look forward to. But another incentive is to get up to League 1, play Bristol. And have a rematch.

  38. Dennis said:

What amazes me regards Telford Utd is that they play on a COUNCIL PITCH FREE of charge every week, whilst Sunday league players have to pay each week to play on other council pitches.
Oh by the way 23,000 went to Wembley for the play of final from Shropshire whilst around 2000 went to Witton (wherever that is) for their play off final. I think this shows the difference in the 2 sides. I also see Benny the Buck has got fed up and gone, seems hes seen the light through that ridiculus outfit.Oh by the way I come from Telford.

  39. brfc Tom said:

as a gas fan i just wanted to say well done, you contributed to a great game and you were unlucky, we took our chances and i think we just about deserved it but good luck next season.

  40. Sam said:

Shame we can’t have any proper leugue derbys with telford.

  41. dave g said:

As Town fans we should be proud of our team we lost out because we didn’t take our chances when 1-0 ahead. When we passed it on the deck and used Asamoah’s pace, Rovers struggled. I travelled with my wife from Sheffield and as an exiled Shrews fan was impressed at the 23,000 turn out.How Telford must dream of such a crowd…
We need an instinctive finisher and some midfield bite and a right back to marshall the troops.I hope some of the cash made in the play-offs goes to strengthen the team.
Best of luck to Rovers I think you will need it in League 1.
GP is the man and we have shown we are a club moving forward. Up the Town…

  42. Gary said:

Town played well and were unfortunate on the day but what a shame that the 23000 ’supporters’ didn’t put in the same effort as the 1200 real supporters at MK the previous Friday - it really could of made such a difference.

  43. AJ said:

23,000 was indeed an impressive turn out for us, but what about the 40,000 at the other end? What is this Goodnight Irene?
