Fans who have not yet bought their tickets for Saturday’s match have been urged to pay by cash instead of cards.Supporters who can book their Wembley places with cash instead of credit and debit cards will not have to wait as long to get their hands on tickets, club bosses have said.
Shrewsbury Town has just one chip and pin machine at Gay Meadow, leading to long waits for people who are paying by card.
So club secretary John Howarth is urging people to take cash.
“We’re asking people to be patient with us, we will get through it and everyone will get a ticket,” he said.
“A lot of people will come with cash, which is easier for us. If they can bring that it’s a lot easier than messing around with card machines.”
Mr Howarth said tickets had sold extremely well so far.
“It’s a massive game with massive implications involved. It’s a cup final and we are organising that in seven days.”
More than 25,000 Salopians are expected to head down the M40 on Saturday for the League Two play-off final against Bristol Rovers. If Shrewsbury win, it will mean a return to the third tier of English football for the first time in more than 10 years.
