What was role in the lodge?

lodge.jpgThis photo was e-mailed to us by Barry Deakin, whose grandfather, James Thomas Williams, of Station Road, Oakengates, is in the second row standing and eighth from the right.

The frame carries the explanatory caption: “Visit of Sir Leonard I. Aulton, R.O.H., P.G.P., to the Sir Leonard I. Aulton Lodge (No. 2897 G.L.E.) at The Caledonia Hotel, Oakengates, Thursday, July 23rd, 1925.”

Mr Deakin wants to try to find out more details of his grandfather’s membership. “I have found out that the Aulton Lodge No. 2897 is still operating from a pub in Dawley. The Grand Lodge do not have any information as it is still at the local branch.

“I was wondering if anyone had any details as to his membership and what he would have been in the lodge, and so on.”
