A Broseley garden will be open to the public this weekend under the Open Gardens Scheme organised by the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust.
The garden at Rivendell, Dark Lane, has been created by the Reverend Michael Pope and his wife Gillian over a number of years. Mrs Pope said the garden had been a real labour of love.
“When we took on the garden it was full of knotweed, nettles and brambles, all of which had to be cleared before we could begin to create something new,” she said.
“As we cleared each area we made a gravel garden, a rockery, lawns, borders and built a pool. Now the garden has matured we like to share it with other people.”
The garden will be open on Sunday from 2pm to 6.30pm. Teas will be served and a chance to buy plants potted up from the garden.
Also, Yvonne Miles will be selling her homemade bread and there will be a display of handcrafted, high quality landscape furniture by Greenoak Designs of Posenhall. Parking on the Fairfield, further down the lane, by kind permission of Gerald Oakley.
