Extra police are being drafted in to monitor thousands of bikers who gather near Bridgnorth , the town’s police chief said, following complaints from the public.
Motorcycle enthusiasts meet every Wednesday night during the summer at Swancote Country Club on the A454 Bridgnorth to Wolverhampton road.
Inspector Andy Thomas said although the vast majority of people enjoyed the events without a problem, a minority caused a nuisance for fellow road users.
Extra officers, some in unmarked police cars, would be on patrol to make sure anyone breaking the speed limit or committing other traffic offences would be caught.
“As anticipated there have been more complaints received in relation to the sheer numbers of people attending the event, noise issues and other road safety matters,” Inspector Thomas said.
“We will endeavour to provide greater numbers of staff on Wednesday evenings to ensure the event passes off as safely as possible.
“We are also keen to provide opportunities for motorcyclists to speak to police officers to raise any road safety issues they may have.
“We are distributing leaflets to highlight the dangers of speed and the vulnerability of motorcyclists.”
Sarah Morris, of Swancote Country Club, said the meets had been busier than ever this year and attracted around 2,500 bikers each week.
She said: “We have road safety leaflets which we hand out and we are doing what we can to encourage safety.”

where do they find extra men.when my car was hit they said they had nobody available to send ?.maybe its there overtime at our expence ?
Take the crash helmets of and there mostly over 45’s not boy racers, and they have all passed a CBT there not the stupid idiots who stole my Dads car and burnt it out for kicks and there are good local clubs which these guys are probably memebers who do alot for charity,some people will moan about a cow mooing so get over it people.
They cant find real criminalssss, so hanging round bugging bikers at meetssss helps to justify their existence!
