More than 250 new homes are envisaged in Telford under two separate proposals for housing submitted to borough council planners this week.
The first proposal is for 149 homes, garages and new roads on the sites of Barn Farm Infant School and Ercall Junior School in Wellington.
Under the scheme the schools would be merged into an £8 million super-school, called Short Wood Primary, on the other side of Limekiln Lane.
A similar proposal for 151 homes, from developer David Wilson Homes, was rejected by Telford & Wrekin Council officers in March for being of “poor quality” design.
Officers said the homes were packed together and long, straight roads would encourage motorists to speed through the estate.
Now a new application has been submitted, reducing the number of houses by two.
A spokesman said: “The planning application is for 149 homes in total, which includes a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, three-storey townhouses and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes.”
It is the second stage of a development, which has already begun with work on 32 homes on the former site of Old Hall Preparatory School, which has moved to the grounds of Wrekin College, Wellington.
The second proposal is for 111 homes as the next stage of a development at Lightmoor. The application would also see three new retail units built along with roads, a pub and new offices for the Bournville Village Trust.
Some 40 homes have already been built at Lightmoor and 108 are under development out of a total of around 800.

And the jobs to go with the homes -…..where do they come from ?
And more green space to go? Telford is turning into a concrete jungle to match the West Midlands!
Well, AWM, T&W Council, City Region, will see us having another 33,000 homes built under the Vision 2021.
Poor quality designs will be more than a match for our poor quality borough council.
Im a former sudent of ercall junior and it seems that new school which is situated oppersite old hall is a pain in the mornings. The old school was fine and there was no point in knocking it down! Its just lately most open green spaces are being filled with homes with no space to breath…. im just very annoyed that this could happen to a place i had many happy memories in…..
