Shropshire have recalled all-rounder Duncan Catterall as they attempt to preserve their unbeaten start to the Minor Counties season at Shrewsbury this Sunday.Catterall - who was presented with his county cap last season - missed the opening victory of this campaign over Herefordshire and has limited availability throughout the current campaign.
But the former Worcestershire all-rounder is back in the 12-man squad for the MCCA Trophy visit of Cumberland this weekend. Shifnal bowler Jonty Mountford is the man to miss out.
“We didn’t want to make too many changes because we are in optimistic mood after the win at Hereford,” said chairman of selectors Trevor Sheperd.
“But Duncan strengthens us in all areas. He should be available for the three remaining one day group games as well.”
Cumberland lost their opening group game to Northumberland by 21 runs, and a Shropshire victory would take them top of Group A and in with an excellent chance of being the one to qualify from the pool for the semi-finals.
Full squad: Tim Hancock (captain, Wellington), Andy Gray, Jono Whitney, James Ralph, Asif Sultan (all Shifnal), Mark Robinson (Wellington), Adam Shimmons (Shifnal), Alex Huxley (Wellington), Matt Tilt (St Georges), Bruce Thomason (Smethwick), Martyn Davies (Wem), Duncan Catterall (Ombersley).
