Joy for Bucks and Shrews

Come on you Bucks . . . Shaunie Estabrook, 13, Michael Beddall and Kimberley Beddall, 13, all from Wellington, get ready for the big game It was football joy for Shropshire this afternoon, as AFC Telford United secured promotion and Shrewsbury Town made the play-offs.

The Bucks demolished Witton Albion 3-1, with goals from Moore, Cornes and Foster to book their place in Conference North next season.

Shrewsbury drew 2-2 with Grimsby, enough to secure a Division Two play-off place. The Shrews almost let Grimsby spoil the party during the last ever League game at Gay Meadow.

The visitors took the lead on two minutes, before Davies from the penalty spot and Langmead made it 2-1. But with just seconds remaining Grimsby equalised.

    We have been through a lot since the glory FA cup days of the 80’s (anyone remember the away end at Goodison Park in ‘85?). Let’s keep up the momentum and get this club back into the conference and then into the league. We are the 7th biggest town /City not to have had representation in the old first division / premiership!!! We need to aim higher still. Anyway, for now, let’s just be jubilant and enjoy the well earned success this team and its management so richly deserve. Well done and lets keep on keeping the faith - onwards and upwards.

    great result for bucks and shrews. Great atmoshere at witton… felt like a home game 4 the bucks… roll on next season. Wish shrews goodluck in the play offs.
