A children’s playground and recreation area in Shifnal could soon be surrounded by a 6ft ring of steel and protected by CCTV cameras to deter litter louts and yobs.
Town councillor Tom Jones, pictured, today said it was a sad reflection of modern society but there was no point in spending money to provide community facilities only for them to be spoilt by anti-social behaviour.
He and his colleagues are now investigating the cost of installing a 6ft high steel security fence around the whole perimeter of the recreation area in Wheatfield Drive.
This would mean the field would be locked up at night to stop teenagers using it as a meeting place, while CCTV coverage could also be provided.
“It is likely to cost many thousands of pounds and will have to get the approval of Shifnal Town Council but I think it’s the only answer to the problem,” he said.
“I picked up four bags of bottles and litter the other day. The swing had also been vandalised.
“These problems have been going on for several years and are getting worse.”
The recreation area provides facilities for football and has a playground for children aged under seven, with two swings, a climbing frame, two spring horses and a safety surface.
The area has a low fence but it is not enough to deter youths from jumping over and using the equipment.

This is indeed a Sad indictment of the state to which our Society has fallen ….. The current trend imposed on us by The Politically Correct Lunatics is clearly condemning us to descend into a state of Anarchy and unless a change is instigated by The Will of The People I fear that you will see much more of the Same……………….

I think to take these actions to secure the play area is a good idea. Yes admittedly this will cost money, but i believe it would be money well spent. To remove the play areas would not only suffice to deprive the innocent kids of somewhere safe to play but also mean that these vandals would simply move on to other areas to wreck. Hopefully if the vandals can be caught on camera then they can be punished for their crimes and be made to pay some kind of compensation, this in turn could help pay for the cctv and fencing to some extent.

CRIMBO … BIMBO or perhaps a DUMBO or maybe a smattering of Community Service … These Louts are laughing at Society and can you wonder at it … The Politically Correct Lunatics have made it possible for these Cretins to know that Society is powerless to Deflate their Inflated Ego’s …. Well I am old enough to know that their is a Way …. A strong arm and four feet of Cane and if done publically will deflate the Largest Ego … And I guarantee that there would be no Desire to repeat the Exercise………………….
