MY FATHER TOLD ME ONCE, WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER IN THE 1960′S, THAT A PUB CALLED THE PLOUGH STOOD ROUGHLY WHERE THE LOW TOWN TOILETS ARE TODAY, OPPOSITE THE FOX HOTEL. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THIS FACT HAS STAYED IN MY MIND FOR ALL THESE YEARS BUT IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY THAT HE TOLD ME, AND HE HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE 1992. HE WAS FROM BERNARDS HILL, JUST OPPOSITE.

Who was the landlord and does anyone know any more history on this pub? It would be interesting to see who were the landlords.
