Why is the news so negative?

Teen Blogger RhianWhy is the news so negative and miserable?

You open a newspaper or tune in for today’s news and its all just about someone was murdered or raped, that’s all that seems be going on in Shropshire at the moment.

The Government are trying to prove to people that Telford is a nice place well they’re not going to get very far.

Come on, if someone read one of our papers they’d think “I’m not going to Telford I might get mugged or have my car stolen or even die”. No wonder we’ve got such a bad reputation.

A few weeks ago I read in the Shropshire Star that Stu Goldcrusher had written a song for little Sophie and that he was going to try his luck with it on ITV’s X-Factor, so he can send Sophie and her family on holiday in Florida.

Now that’s what I and other people want to read about, not that some teenagers blew up a car.

It shows that Telford and Shropshire have good people who care about the other people in the community.

The BBC news have this new project they’re doing with 12-13 year old students. They’re letting them produce their own news after they also complained that the news was so negative and “not a barrel of laughs”.

For their own news they’re going to pick topics that reflected the storied around them, for example how they could improve schools and what it’s really like to be a teenager.

At the end of the day bad things happen, but so do good so why should that be all we talk about?

With all due respect, the news is so negative because the state of the country is in a very bad way. The government have a lot to answer for and the news tends to be a repercussion of the decisions that have been made by out of touch ministers and Government officials!

Why does this paper not take the lead and have more good news stories. There is alot being done around Telford, Shropshire and the UK! The SS and other media never focus on this.
