Once again it seems Shropshire is at the centre of the universe.
I wish now I had been down to the bookies.
Because once the 15 sailors and marines were taken hostage by Iranian forces it was a sure thing one of them would be from Shropshire.
And naturally she is the only one whose name has now become public.
There is a difficult balancing act when something like that happens. There is the need to be first with the story against the feelings of the family and the operational needs of the MOD.
I like to think we got it right today. Of course we are hoping to get to speak to Faye Turney’s family at some point. We all hope that is when she is released.

I just have to say myself and a few other collegues were in Halifax, Nova Scotia just this past Sunday night (we live in a rural town about 3 hours from Halifax) & we met a a few people from Shropshire, needless to say we were amazed to see them there seeing they were quite a few miles from home lol but I must say they were the most polite, friendly respctetful, wonderful, entertaining group of people we happened upon. I also must say they certainly gave me a true yearning to look up your fine destination & hope to one day visit. They gave our group a lovely mirror of what to expect if we ever travel to Shropshire. I only wish we had of had a chance to say “so long” but they were on business as were we. I know it is not everyday you can meet in Nova Scotia, people from Shropshire let alone England but I must say it must have been our lucky day & I count my stars I did!!
Cheers!!
