Snap to it

Star reader John Sleight took this picture of the fire at the Black Horse in Oakengates. This may come as something of a surprise - but the Shropshire Star can’t be everywhere at once.

Therefore, however dramatic the incident, there is no guarantee we will be able to give it the prominence it deserves, especially without photographs.

Fortunately, in this day and age, many people have high quality gadgets lying around their houses and we have been blessed in recent times with some excellent readers’ images.

During the snow storms a few weeks back, one of the most popular hits on our website were readers’ pictures of the storms.

And during the recent eclipse

we were again provided with some stunning images, many of which rivalled (although didn’t eclipse - sorry) our own snappers’ (they hate being called that).

Today, it was something more dramatic. Some brilliant pictures of a Telford pub fire provided by reader John Sleight, and equally good pictures of a road accident sent in by Simon Cooper ensured unrivalled coverage of these two events.

Long may our readers continue sending us pictures, stories, letters, etc. Now if only I can find a reader who wants to get my lunch every day…
