Glass work on display

glass.jpgWork by a Mid Wales artist has attracted the attention of the Japanese - and will now go on show in a joint Japanese/British art exhibition in London next week.

As well as having her work on show, Anne Collins, a glass artist, will also be interviewed and have her work filmed by a Japanese TV company for an arts programme.

She was invited to take part in the exhibition by Kazumi Morita, East-West Artists and Culture Club (EWACC) chairman, after he had seen her work on her website and liked it.

Anne said: “This is the most amazing opportunity for me. Not only will I be exhibiting at my first major London exhibition, but there will be future opportunities for showing my work in Paris and Japan.”

Anne will be displaying eight-10 3D works and three wall pieces at the show at The Light Gallery, Porchester Place, London, from Monday until March 18.

Also exhibiting will be four Japanese artists.

EWACC was formed in 1996 and has more than 400 members worldwide. Group exhibitions are organised regularly in London, Paris and Japan along with “studio swops” for artist members between Japan and the UK.

Anne’s studio is in Llanerfyl, Powys, and is open to the public by appointment. She also holds regular fused glass workshops.

She can be contacted on 07970 709247 and her work can be seen on the internet at www.warmglassart.co.uk
