Shropshire judo aces Sarah Adlington and Gemma Howell move a step closer to their Olympic dream later this month - by attending a training camp in Hungary for athletes hoping to qualify for Beijing 2008.
Adlington, 19, is now based in Scotland but hails from Bayston Hill, while 16-year-old Howell, from Telford, is the youngest member of the GB team which jets out on March 19 for the five-day camp.
The promising duo have also been selected for two World Cup events over the coming weeks - and good performances there could give them a great chance of being on the plane when the British squad sets off for China next year.
Howell, a pupil at Adams Grammar School, has already served notice of her ability to perform at the highest level, having won a bronze medal at the Vienna World Cup for Women earlier this year.
It was the first World Cup medal for the youngster, who has made a real impact at senior level over the last year - winning gold at the 2006 Senior British Closed Championships, and bronze at the 2007 Senior British Open Championships in January.
Adlington was beaten in her second fight in Vienna, but did win silver at the British Open Championships to show her quality against the best in the world.
