Here at Shropshire Star Towers (that’s not a real place) we’ve known for some time that the employees of this illustrious publication are among the best in the country (the national news editor is particularly talented*).
But today proved not only are the dedicated band at the forefront of news gathering at the top of their game - so are the youngsters that bring the news to you.
A big well done to Tom Reece, the 13-year-old Shropshire Star paperboy who went to the rescue of 67-year-old Val Roberts while he was out on his round.
Mrs Roberts was so impressed with Tom’s actions after she fell and split her head that she wrote to us to praise the young man.
It’s always nice when we hear from people praising us. It gives the whole place a real lift.
Tom’s mum said that watching Casualty and Holby City had really paid off.
Funny, I’ve watched them, too, and all I know is that in any given hospital at least three people are sleeping with colleagues, one has a drug problem, one is “on the edge”, one is a maverick and one used to be in EastEnders.
Good job he didn’t watch ER…
