Mick McCarthy fears his Wolves young guns may lack the killer touch to finish teams off at Molineux.
McCarthy’s men have won just one of their last eight games at home - a run of form which threatens to undermine their play-off hopes.
The Molineux chief admits inexperience may have hampered them at home in recent weeks, but insists he is confident they are close to getting their home form back on track.
“Rather than worry about what’s gone on before I think we just have to look at improving,” McCarthy said.
“I think teams enjoy coming here which seems to have been the case for the last few years.
“How we make it into a fortress I don’t know but we’re trying like hell and I’m sure everybody before me did the same.
“Teams do come to us and sit back and wait for us to break them down. Maybe sometimes we get caught on the break because we haven’t got experience to put foot on ball and pick teams off.
“We’ll learn that though - and I have confidence in them because they are a terrific bunch of players.”
The New Year’s Day win against Barnsley was Wolves’ solitary home win since November 4, and the team have struggled to break teams down at Molineux.
But McCarthy has pleaded for patience ahead of the visit of Plymouth.
“I’m not best pleased at our home points but if I knew what the problem was I’d have sorted it by now,” the Wolves boss said.
“I can’t worry too much about our home form, in this job you can always find something to worry about if you want to. If we were in the bottom six because of our home form then I’d be desperately worried.
“But we keep going away and picking up points and however we get them that’s the main thing.”
