But to us Ricky Tomlinson will always be “that bloke that was banged up at Shrewsbury prison a few years back”.
Well maybe not quite, but Ricky’s membership of the “Shrewsbury Two” for his actions during the 1972 builders’ strike has given us plenty of scope for copy over the years.
And now Ricky wants his name cleared. And as the law he was prosecuted under no longer exists he may well have a leg to stand on.
It gave us a good story today and an excuse for us to use a nice flashback pic from the time. Apparently the bloke with Tomlinson (not the old fella!) looks like me.
