Everyday I hear the same thing “what is it with teenagers these days?” and “why can’t they be more like us adults”, writes teen blogger Rhian.
Whether it be at work, on the bus, or in college by tutors, the majority of adults are thinking about it.
So I’m gonna try and explain it to you. Now I’m not gonna try and make out that teenagers who drink and do drugs or steal are good people, at the end of the day it’s their decision and they know what the consequences are.
Now that you’re an adult, you might not remember how it felt to be a teen, caught in that stage between childhood and adulthood.
I know it can be a time of great possibility but it can also be a time of great confusion and peer pressure.
There’s pressure to fit in socially, to perform well in school and act responsibly.
There’s also the whole awakening of emotions and feelings such as a growing self-identity, depression, resentment and so on.
Teenagers also do things that can often conflict with the rules and expectations of others.
There’s so many things a teenager will go through in life like discovering love and going through break-ups, doing things they don’t want to do but will be isolated if they choose not too.
Just because some teenagers choose to express themselves through what they wear or through actions doesn’t mean they’re odd or bad people – if we were all the same the world would be a boring place.
So next time you disagree or don’t understand us teenagers, just try and remember what it was like for you.

Rhian, Way to go! I love how you remind all of us adults to remember what it is like being a teen! Thank you for giving teens a voice and expressing some of the feelings others feel they can’t. Keep up the good work! Blessings, Debbie Fisher
