Homes for Laura Ashley site

More than 30 new houses and a 40-bed nursing home were today unveiled as part of a redevelopment of the former Laura Ashley site in Mid Wales.

The Carno headquarters and manufacturing site of the fashion and soft furnishing empire has been put on the market.

And plans have been unveiled for the eight and half acre site including an area for industry and warehousing, a nursing and care home, a mini-housing estate and four separate executive homes.

But would-be buyers have less than two weeks to register their interest in the factory which has 150,000 sq ft of manufacturing and warehouse space and more than 40,000 sq ft of offices.Buyers would also be purchasing a station house, school house, car parking and a helipad.

Estate agent Andrew Turner, of Morris, Marshall & Poole, said: “A detailed concept redevelopment scheme has been drawn up by the company’s architects in consultation with the local planning department dividing the site into four parcels with specific plans for each parcel.

“The concept provides for a residential development of 30 homes; conversion of the existing buildings into a 40 bedroom retirement/nursing home with eight close care homes; an industrial/ warehouse unit with substantial parking; and a development of four executive homes.

“Preference will be given to offers for the whole site, although offers for individual parcels may also be considered. Buyers will not necessarily be bound by the planning work already completed.”
