Vineyard owner David Millington said his dogs went “berserk” when they saw the intruder which set off the security system at the vineyard. He said no ordinary sized cat would have been large enough to trigger the alarms.
“If anyone comes into the shop or enters the property, it sets off a series of cameras and lights,” he said.
“I happened to go to my house for a cup of tea and everything went off. More importantly, the dogs went absolutely berserk, which is unusual.
“I went down and had a look and found absolutely nobody around. But when I played back the video, I saw that he had set the CCTV footage off because of his size. No ordinary cat would do it.”The animal was seen at Wroxeter last Saturday, and a similar creature was last spotted on November 28 by two Telford sisters – the fourth sighting in the town in less than two weeks.
Bonnie and Sam Anderson, 33 and 35, saw the panther-like animal running in front of their car as they drove up Finger Road, towards Dawley.
A “large black cat” was also spotted by a police officer in Telford near to The White Horse pub in Dawley just two days after the other sightings were reported. The officer said the “very large black cat” crossed the road and disappeared into the grounds at the back of the pub.
The cat was described as having being “of bonnet height and with a long tail.”
Two Telford Town Park rangers also reported they had seen a “big, black puma” in the park on November 21, days after Diana Young, 65, saw “a big cat” while walking her dog between Lawley and Dawley.
