An exhibition outlining how congestion charges would work in Shrewsbury has opened to the public.
The display, on the ground floor gallery of the Pride Hill Shopping Centre, explains the plans to solve traffic congestion in the town.
It outlines three or four big transport issues and people can fill out a questionnaire to tell Shropshire County Council their opinions.Council officers involved in the project are going to be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.
Rob Surl, head of special projects for transport policy, said he was very pleased with the turn out so far at the exhibition.
He said: “I was very pleased with the level of interest. The aim is to have a big conversation with local people about these issues.
“We are not putting forward a specific proposal but we are saying here are three or four big issues that need to be looked at together to provide a long-term solution for transport in Shrewsbury.”
The exhibition is open until 5pm today and then from 9.30am to 4pm tomorrow. Information gathered will be used to help develop a new transport strategy for the town.
Ten areas, of which Shrewsbury is one, are now involved with the project. Others include Norwich, Cambridge and Durham.
