I realised something this week (first time for everything), writes our news blogger, David Burrows. My colleagues and I have started playing football again on a Monday night as a way of trying to stay fit(!) and work off the frustrations that a Monday inevitably brings.
We’re your usual mix. There’s the old man, who’s now a bit slow so makes up for it by being a lot louder and more critical of those around him, the guy who was never any good but thinks he should be, someone who seems to get injured every game, goalkeepers prone to hillarious gaffs and someone who’s head and shoulders above the rest of us in terms of talent and should clearly be playing with better people.
And we never have the same people playing from one week to the next.
Do you see?
We’re Liverpool.
Still, at least we’re good on paper (gerrit?).
