This is an apology to David Benson, the frankly brilliant man behind the one man show Think No Evil Of Us: My Life with Kenneth Williams.
I was lucky enough to first see this show a number of years ago when he performed at Shrewsbury Music Hall and was blown away. It is both tear-enducingly funny and heartbreakingly sad.
My biggest regret was, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was late for curtain up and missed the first five minutes.
So I was delighted this weekend to get a second chance to see the show during a free press jolly to Belfast (you have to take the perks when they come along).
Before the show we were treated to a wonderful meal, but the food took a little longer coming than expected. We suddenly realised half way through the main course we had about 10 minutes to finish eating and get to the theatre.
We didn’t make it.
So, Mr Benson, I’m sorry. Again the show was brilliant, but I’d dearly love to know how it starts.
I’d also like to go back to the restaurant to get the desert we paid for (I say “we”…) but never had the chance to eat. It looked lovely.
