It was nominated as one of the three finalists in the commercial waste management initiative category of the letsrecycle.com awards and one of four finalists in the best industry recycling initiative category for the National Recycling Awards.

Alan Taylor, Denso’s head of HR, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards.

“Manel Roura, our environmental officer has done an amazing job and it’s credit to his hard work and commitment that we achieved zero landfill in such a short period of time.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to be recognised on a national scale for the work we have done and I would like to thank every single associate for their commitment to achieving this.”

Although the team just missed out on the letsrecycle.com title, it is hoping for success in the National Recycling Awards which take place on November 15 at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Prior to introducing the Waste Management Partnership, Denso was sending 55 tonnes of waste to landfill every month, two years on this has been reduced to zero with 95 per cent going to be recycled and the remaining five per cent going for incineration with some energy recovery.
