A 44-year-old woman who died when her car was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry on the A5 near Oswestry has been named.
Dawn Ella McPherson, of Whittington, near Oswestry, died following the accident which happened on Monday.
Her silver Toyota Yaris was involved in a collision with an articulated Volvo lorry on the A5 at Nesscliffe, near the junction with Rodefern Lane, at about 8.20am.
Her front seat passenger, a 14-year-old boy, is recovering in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The lorry driver was also treated at the RSH.
The car was travelling towards Shrewsbury and the lorry in the opposite direction.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident and have appealed for witnesses.
In a separate accident, a 20-year-old man was airlifted to hospital following a two-car collision in south Shropshire.
The man was taken by air ambulance to the Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, following the collision on the B4635 Ludlow to Culmington road, near Ludlow Golf Course, at about 2.50pm yesterday.
He was later transferred to the neuro-critical unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where his condition today was critical.
The man was driving a white Vauxhall Astra GTE towards Culmington.
The other vehicle, a blue Peugeot 307, was travelling in the opposite direction. The driver, a woman in her sixties, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with spinal injuries.
Spokesman Richard Ewels said: “We are anxious to hear from anyone who saw the collision or who spotted either vehicle beforehand.”
