Baby birth bowls ‘em over

baby2.jpgWe do like our human interest stories here at the Star. While the bad news may always seem to gravitate towards the front page, we like to give good shows to tales of the individual, especially those that have a certain “aah” factor.

Today’s example was Whitchurch man Rob Wilkinson, who went off for a game of bowls while his wife Gemma got on with the small matter of giving birth to their third child. It should be pointed out that Gemma insisted.

Sadly Mr Wilkinson decided not to call the baby Jack.

Further warming our cockles was the story of Les Gwilt from Bridgnorth who received a military medal more than 50 years after completing his National Service. Mr Gwilt, who served in the Suez Canal zone in 1950/51 says the medal came right of the blue.

Good job they were a bit more prompt with his discharge papers.
