Let them give you a ‘lift’

Thank the lord for ‘celebrities” - no matter how far down the alphabetised list they may be. Ok, so we may have not had any Hollywood superstars in the region lately (Keira Knightly not withstanding) but the B- C- and D-listers have been out in force, and helping us fill the gaps on an otherwise quiet news day.

You may not like it a lot (see where I’m going with this one?) but the likes of Paul Daniels, David “cheap as chips” (read the story here) Dickinson and “celeb MP” Lembit Opik have all graced the pages of the Star today.

Both The Duke and the short magiciany fella paid visits to the county while Lembit will be gracing the small screen on Friday on a talent show.

Some may grumble about the number of column inches we give to these people, but at least it lightens the mood from the death and destruction that dominates the pages.

And I, for one, could laugh at a picture of Paul Daniels with a playing card stuck to his head all day long…
