Winning isn’t everything!

There is a theory that healthy competition helps build team spirit, in which case the staff at the Shropshire Star should be like a band of brothers and sisters come August.

After last year’s successful first tilt, more than 40 people from various departments have banded together to take each other on at fantasy football. We have our own super league and a top prize of £200 at stake.

This is of course just an excuse for me to mention that I am the reigning league champion! Can’t see much chance of retaining the title (just call me Blackburn Rovers) but the “friendly” banter has already started.

In fact, some of the team names are more fun than the battle at this early stage, but as children may read this site I won’t go into it.

Actually, I may deliberately finish lower down this year because part of my “prize” for topping the tree was to be the Star’s official World Cup Fantasy Football pundit . . . and I ended finishing that competition half way down the table.

Winning isn’t everything.
